You Are What You Eat? | Let’s Chat S02 E03

Happy Sunday! Let’s Chat about food this week.

We’ve been sharing our weight-loss progress for the past two weeks on Saturdays, here on NautilusMODE, and we thought talking about some of the things we’ve learned and the ways we’ve seen improvement would be beneficial for anyone that needs some motivation.

Although we’ve officially been eating healthy since the fist week of January we have lost some weight, which is amazing! Hopefully we’re well on the way to a natural body weight.

Okay, okay. Let’s talk about some changes we’ve noticed occurring. For starters, Trevor and myself are feeling more alert and energized throughout the day. Energy levels dip low just before dinner, and again at bedtime. That’s it! I used to feel tired and sluggish throughout the day, and now I’m rarin’ to go for most of it! I’m really happy with this improvement in function.

Removing dairy has been such a life-altering experience for me as I’m lactose sensitive and consuming dairy yields a lot of pain. I was told to limit my intake in 2013, but last fall I began phasing it out all together. I haven’t had any kind of dairy for two weeks and eating isn’t painful–it’s mind blowing! I’m so happy that I’ve made this change and truly with I’d done it sooner.

Carb-crashes are a thing of the past for us as we’ve gone minimal gluten. I eat gluten about once every-other-week, but I don’t really enjoy the taste of breads anymore; I imagine we’ll only further eliminate gluten from my diet as the months go by. Without gluten we never feel shaky, or weak, not eating every two hours and we’re consuming nutrient dense carbs via fresh fruits and veggies.
